Sitting at a table at the local dinner, you sip coffee, anxiously awaiting your fiance to arrive. He told you to be here at exactly 8:30, it’s your two year anniversary, and he said he had a surprise for you. He has the tendency to be a little since he’s never on time for anything. You check your watch, he’s never been an hour later before. It’s getting dark outside… Starting to worry you check your phone.

“Niall ALWAYS calls if he’s going to be more then 10 minutes…” You say to yourself.

You keep checking the parking lot, going between that and your phone. You call up his friend, Liam.

“Hey (Y/N)!” He answers.

“Hey Liam, have you heard from Niall? He was suppose to meet me for a quick bite to eat?” You ask, worry creeping into your tone.

“No, sorry (Y/N). He left about half an hour ago to meet you. I haven’t heard from him since.” He replies, sounding a bit worried himself.

“Thanks Liam. I’ll just wait a little longer, maybe it’s traffic.” He tells you goodbye and not to worry and you hang up.

Twisting the ring around you left ring-finger you get nervous. You check out the window again, praying you’ll see his car pull into the space beside yours. Your head snaps back to your phone when it starts ringing.

“Hello?”

“Hi, is this (Y/N)?”

“Yes…”

“Something’s happened to your fiance, Niall. You need come to the hospital now.”

You hang up and your mind wonders back to December, as your body goes into autopilot, heading to the hospital.

You’re at the park, walking through the snow covered sidewalks, when Niall stops you. He bends down on one knee infront of you. You’re eyes are already tearing up as he pulls a little box out of his pocket.

“(Y/N)… I want you forever, forever and always. Through the good, and the bad, and the ugly. We’ll grow old together, forever and always. Will you marry me?” He asks, snow started to fall slowly.

“Yes! Niall! Yes!” You barely get out. He slips the ring onto your finger. He grabs you around the waist and spins you around! Snow covered, full of excitement and butterflies you kiss him. You’ll always remember that night. Always. It was the night you realized the man of your dreams was really yours…

You come back as you pull up to the hospital. You run inside and go straight for the front desk.

“Can I help you?” A nurse asks.

“Niall Horan.” You get out out of breath.

She leads you down a long hallway, then down another one, and another one. It seemed a maze that never ends.

“Do you know what happened sweetie?” She asked you. You shake your head. “Well, the police say he was taking a turn, and it was too sharp for his speed. He turned the corner and was hit on the passenger side, then was rammed into another car. His car flipped a few times, then came to a stop on its side against a pole… I’m so sorry.” She placed her arm across your shoulders.

You heard none of what she was telling you. You’re fighting back tears, trying to keep a straight face as she points to his room. You walk in, and go sit by his bed. You take his hand in yours and grip it tightly. He squeezes your hand back, and he opens his eyes.

“Hey baby…” You manage to get out, fighting back the tears. “You’re going to get through this… just think of the stories you’ll have to tell the kids. How strong their daddy is…” You subconsciously rub you stomach. “And the big house on the hill, over-looking the vast field the kids will have to play in. The good life remember? Remember, we’re going to stay in that house forever… Forever and always… Through the good and the bad, and the ugly. We’ll grow old together, and always remember, whether rich, or for poor, or for better… we’ll still love each other forever and always.” You lay your head beside him and cry.

You cry, and cry till something sparks and idea in your head.

“Nurse? Nurse!” You call.

“Yes dear?” The nurse that lead you in speaks quietly.

“Can you bring up a chaplain, please?”

“Certainly dear.” She closes the door.

“I love you Niall…” You closed your eyes. You feel his hand caress your face, wiping away your tears.

The chaplain knocks, you tell him to come in.

“I want you to marry us. Right now.”

“I can’y jus—”

“Please. Please just marry us. Now…”

He reads a few verses out of the bible in his hands, you ask the nurse to find you some rings. The couple next door lends you theirs, as they watch from the doorway.

There’s a few light laughs, as tears run down your face. You look into his beautiful blue eyes, you take his hand in yours and start to speak.

“I want you forever, forever and always. Through the good, and the bad, and the ugly. We’ll grow old together, and always remember, whether happy, or sad, or whatever… We’ll still love each other, forever and always. Forever and Always Niall. I promise you I’ll love you… Forever and always. Never will you leave my heart.” You kiss his hand.

All is quiet for a few moments, till the machines he’s hooked up to… the beeping starts to slow down. They start to beep too slow. He says something, his voice almost too low for you to hear. He licks his lips, swallows and tries again. He says, ” I Love you forever, forever and always, please just remember… Even if I’m not there… I’ll always love you… Forever and always…”

“I now pronounce you husband and wife…” the chaplain says.

You lean forward and kiss Niall.

“Forever and always…” You say, tears cascading down your face.

“Forever and always (Y/N)…” He smiles at you before his face looses all color, and his body falls limp.

You kiss his hand, holding it to your lips, wishing he’d come back. How are you going to take care of your baby now? You rub your tummy with your free hand, and cry. Crying with your head in Niall’s lap. You just can’t believe it.

“I’ll love you forever Niall, forever and always…” You whisper, eyes closed. You almost here him whisper “Forever and Always” in your ear…
